Description: London, Westminter Gazette. 1896. Hard Cover, 12mo - over 6" - 7" tall. Sir Anthony Hope Hawkin trained as a lawyer as a student of the future Prime Minister Asquith but gave it up for writing. A series of sketches that first appeared in the Westminster Gazette and were collected in 1894 as The Dolly Dialogues and was his first major literary success. CONDITION Burgundy ribbed cloth with bright gilt titles, inscribed "Yours Truly Anthony Hope' to half title, 144 pages printed on nice linen paper stock. Copy is very bright and crisp, Stamped in gilt General Assembly Library of New Zealand (Parliamentary Library) with two Assembly labels to front pastedown, Gilt dewi number to spine, repeated in ink to inner margin of page 9. Copy has lightly faded spine, unworn. Very Good. Signed by Author.
