Cecil Thomas Madigan (1889 - 1947) was an Australian explorer and geologist. In the 1930s, he did surveys of Central Australia naming the Simpson Desert after the president of the South Australian branch of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia - Alfred Allen Simpson. In 1939 he led the first major expedition across the Simpson Desert. Although he was not the first to cross the desert, he has become known as the last of the "classic" explorers of central Australia. Originally written in 1936 this edition is revised with newly collected information. CONDITION Brown bds, pp [10] 316 with numerous half tone photo illus and 2 fold out maps at rear. Very crisp and tidy copy with name inside front, rubbed at top of front pastedown, light foxed to eps. DJ toned to edges, lightly chipped to spine heel, not price clipped. Very Good/Very Good.
