Frederick Maning settled on the Hokianga in 1833. His description of his experiences and impressions in that first decade trading amongst the Maori and taking the Ngapuhi Chiefs sister as a wife. CONDITION Pale Blue bds with Black title, title page illus with colour woodblock print, pp xxxvi 327 with 19 historic photo illus, nice maori motif vignettes through out. Tight and clean copy with company seal of Dunbar Sloanes to fep. DJ has some small chips to spine head, short tear bottom rear cnr, and paper reinforced to inside at top and spine heel, especially good for this title. Very Good/Very Good.
