Description: Dublin, Ireland, James Duffy & Co. 1895, First Edition. Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. St Fergus (d. 583) is named as first Bishop of Down. The diocese of Connor was founded in 480 by St Macnissi, and St Malachy was bishop there (1124). The dioceses of Down and Connor were permanently joined in 1439. The diocese includes much of counties Antrim and Down, including the cities of Belfast and Lisburn and the large towns Antrim, Ballymena, Bangor, Carrickfergus, Downpatrick, Holywood, Larne and Newtownards. CONDITION Green cloth with bright Gilt title and decoration (slight wear to spine head,some insect damage to coloured surface front and rea not effecting cloth) pp [iv] 636 xviii. Copy is bright and crisp with toned pages at ends, owners nice book plate to front pastedown. Gutter split to paper at joints, hinge and mull tight and intact. Overall a very nice copy. OVERWEIGHT. Good.
